Darby & Joan

Both the offspring are currently in Japan, so we are 'empty-nesters' for the duration. Murray, however, has the flu and I have a sore throat so we are far from being able to take advantage of the situation (in spite of the early night which is looming...)

And since there is no news of note, we'll make do with a couple of photos taken in glorious winter weather in Turangi a week ago:

The weather was beautiful, but cold. Snow had fallen overnight on the Desert Road, and this is what we saw as we drove home (looks bleak, but it was beautiful).

We stopped for a cup of coffee at the top of the Mangawekas, and this is what we saw there. Isn't he gorgeous...!!!

And finally, one from the family album - Tamsin, Gayle and Nui setting out for a walk in mid-July.

(I am hoping this is not going to be duplicated - I just created my blog, only to lose the lot... so here we go again. Fingers xxx'd this time - and apologies if you have to read this twice!!!)

My turn to try out the system just in case I have some bombs to add(best of Murrays bull shit )

First Attempt!!!

Welcome to the first of my entries! This site is for the benefit of friends and whanau with whom I wish to share the 'Best Of Rosie's Images, News & Gossip' (B.O.R.I.N.G. for short). I experimented with other possible interpretations of the abbreviation and came up with the following:
- Bloody Old Rosie's Incredibly Newsy Gossip
- Blatantly Over Rated Images Newly Generated
- Boring Others Really Involves New Gossip
- Being Our Relative Is Needlessly Gruesome
- Being Out Roving Involves News Gathering
- Buying Our Rotten Information Needs Guts
If anyone has any other suggestions I'd love to hear from you. Have fun and enjoy...
For those of you who are interested, here's a photo of the quilt I started around 1968 (about age 10). After 40 years alternating between a labour of love and being shut away out-of-sight, out-of-mind, it's finally finished. I won't say 'never again' but certainly the next quilt I make will be sewn by machine!

Owing to the current lack of news and gossip, here are a few of the autumn colours we recently enjoyed in Turangi. For those not already in the know, it's a beautiful part of the world.
